Lascaux
Original: Colour transparency.
The subject is a section of rock with seaweed adhering to the uneven surface.
Treatment: After scanning into photoshop, the 'curves' were adjusted to render a more effective range of colours. The sympathetic border has been created by 'cloning' elements of the subject into the border area selected and adjusting the colour blend.
Why 'Lascaux'? I feel a relationship between the purposeful abstraction of the weed and rock and the wonderful cave paintings to be found at Lascaux.
